Macworld 2010

If you choose to talk about Macworld and actually write out the word, Macworld then I beg of you to capitalize it correctly. Every year, I see blog posts from all of my friends begging people to please write it correctly! Macworld is not written as “MacWorld”. This is horribly incorrect and if you’re announcing Macworld coverage on your dinky little blog and happen to spell it MacWorld then I am going to remove you from my RSS feed reader and never check in to your site ever again. Everywhere you write the holiest of all words, make sure you’re spelling it right or else. It’s Macworld not MacWorld.

By the way, I'd like to add that someone came up to me tonight and said "what's this about you hating on old people?" I wasn't hating on old people. But when someone singles me out for being too young and automatically assumes I'm a complete idiot because I'm under 30, I retaliate with the fact that they're too old.

Just Internet arguing. Not really how I feel about "old people"

Hey Adam,

Since I started typing MacWorld with the capital "W" from my first post, I was part of your problem...I got your back, but that was too hard not to pass up

:)

April, "repeatedly"? I didn't "brag" repeatedly about living close to Moscone. Even Apple has been known to spell it incorrectly. IDG has stressed to me over email and on my blog in the past that I need to capitalize it correctly. I write about Macworld every often and even this page has Macworld written over a dozen times and every time it is "Macworld"

I love the typical "internet hate" that I get. It's a pretty perfect forumula.
1. you're too young
2. here's why you're wrong
3. here's something you said earlier that makes you look stupid / arrogant / young / an asshole
4. one sentence about how your'e the best thing ever.

April, let's meet today at Macworld and discuss this in depth. I don't argue on the Internet but I will state my point and then walk away but am willing to debate things with you in person. Ken I expected you to have my back after our history together but whatever.

Let me close with saying that things change, Apple may have been capitalized APPLE for a year in the 80s and I remember a time when we gigabyte was actually pronounced jigabit (which is the correct way according to computer scientists) but things change and branding changes. I'm not young, I'm just correctly capitalizing a word as IDG World Expo would like it to be capitalized. I'm not hitting Internet forums, commenting on Forbes.com or calling editors at newspapers to set the straight. It was a quick post on the Macworld Internet forum and you're just an old person holding on to an old standard. Evolve a little, give up your PowerPC laptop and switch to Intel. Times are changing, OLDIE.

Hey Adam,

I know you are not the meanie this post makes you seem, but ditto on April's comment about the old MacWorld way, I am old school too and write "MacWorld" in that way ...and will probably continue to do so.

How about this: MACWORLD ... all in capital letters; in your book that would be bad too, but that is clearly the way the banner is on this site.. I guess you need to stop using this site completely ;-)

Back in the day, everyone spelled it that way. Of Course you were to young to know:
http://www.cchronicles.com/2007/12/computer-chronicles-macworld-expo-1996.html

Even Apple:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA35856?viewlocale=en_US
Quoted from the above article:
"The problem you are experiencing occurs only with the HyperCard 2.3.5
Updater included on approximately 10,000 CD-ROMs distributed at MacWorld
Boston in August 1996. The CD-ROM with the troublesome HyperCard updater
is titled "The Apple Services CD - August 1996 Edition"."

It's one letter, we like it. Get over it. You know what annoys me? People who brag about their "$2000 apartment" repeatedly, but hey, I don't tell them if they keep repeating that they live near Moscone and don't have to pay for wifi, I will cut them off. But that's just me.
