Griffin Technology Presents the YML "Rocks Expo" Party!

Back in the mists of time, in the days "BJ" (Before Jobs), Macworld Expo was *full* of parties. You couldn't swing a dead cat on the show floor without hitting a party invite.

Parties on the show floor, parties in hotel rooms, private parties, invite only parties, come one, come all parties...The two biggest events on the Expo social calendar were always the Apple (Invite Only) Party (with big name bands, free booze and food) and the Mac the Knife Party (you folks new to the Mac platform may have to Google "Mac the Knife") which was always held in a "secret" location. You knew you were part of the In Crowd at Expo if you could snag invites to those two.

But then, Dark Days fell upon Macworld Expo. A recession hit, the dotcom bubble burst and the first thing to go were the Expo parties (not to mention staff, tech support, quality control - but I digress). Apple stopped have their huge event (rumored to cost several hundred thousand dollars) and Mac the Knife, along with Macweek magazine, succumbed and are no more.

A couple of years go by (a millennia in the tech industry) and along comes these upstart Canadians (cause Canadians *love* to party!) who said, "If we can't go to any parties, will just put on our own!"

And thus, the Your Mac Life Rocks Expo Party was born.

In San Francisco this year, we go back to "our roots" - Slim's. A funky Blues Club, Slim's has played host to a remarkable number of recording acts and is a favorite of the YML Party "House Band" Paul Kent's own Silicon Valley Houserockers. This is the sixth party YML is organizing and our Headline Sponsor, Griffin Technology, wanted to kick it up a notch so they've added *another* band!

Nettwerk Records' Venus Hum will be the opening band so you'll want to get there early. Also early in the evening, we'll be serving a selection of mini sandwiches, chicken satay, mini cheese quesadillas with salsa/sour cream, toasted focaccia bread bites and a selection of cookies and brownies (along with *THE* best Chocolate Cake you've ever had!)

Oh - did we mention the booze? Well, it's on us! No tickets to buy, no cash bar, no dry party - cause none of that would very Canadian of us, would it?

You never know what's gonna happen at a YML "Rocks Expo" Party! Andy Ihnatko might get up and sing, David Pogue might be standing in the corner nursing a Chardonnay - heck, people have even gotten married at our parties!

So, how do you get in to this shindig? Well, asking nicely probably won't work (but you can try!).

The best/easiest way is for you or your company to be a Party Sponsor. That way, you get your own tickets to hand out to guests, employees, friends, favored customers, etc *and* have people coming to your booth begging for tickets. :)

Failing that, you can contact our Party Sponsors and see if they have any tickets. But don't beg - it's unseemly. :)

Finally, you could join us as a "Friend of YML" and purchase your own ticket.

There's a limited number of tickets available and they will go fast so contact me via this site as soon as possible to make your arrangements. But I promise - this party is the last party of Macworld Expo for a reason - you won't want to do anything the next day but lie in bed. :)

What a coincidence, my attendance has the same requirements ;-)

If I luck into a ticket I'll *buy* you a drink there!

I'm Canadian - Open bars are a *requirement* to the parties I throw. :)

Sounds like a great time. I have been to some Apple and other vendor parties in the past and the good times certainly do flow. Never had the pleasure of a YML party. Maybe someday I'll luck into a ticket or 2.

The biggest problem with going to so many parties is you are never hungry enough afterword to enjoy one of the gazilllion great restaurants in SF.

But the open bar always seems to make up for the loss!!
