On the Macworld Expo site there are now codes for travel discounts for flights on either United, American Airlines, and Jet Blue. I used the promo codes to compare fares between booking at the airline website using the promo code vs expedia.com. I am coming from New York so my itinerary is LGA to SFO round trip.

United Airlines:
Using the promo code fares range from $477 to over $600, the choice of flights is not great and not as extensive as can be found on expedia.
Via expedia.com I booked a round trip LGA to SFO at the times convenient for me for a price of $430.40 including tax and fees. Most of the fares for United were around that price.

American Airlines:
Using the promo code the fare was $591.50.
The fares on expedia for AA range from $390 to $430.

I suggest you do a comparison of fares before booking using the promo code.

I'm totally fine with that. i just want people to know that they can find less expensive fares elsewhere. I only checked expedia.com, didn't check travelocity, but I suspect there are less expensive flights available there too.

Virgin America flies non-stop to San Francisco from JFK. The cost I came up with searching online just now was $370 flying 2/8 and returning on 2/13, or $390 returning on 2/14.

That's a very good price. I paid a little more than that, but it evens out on how much it costs to get to JFK from where I live. Thanks for the info, some people I know will find this helpful.

About a month ago I changed the dates on my airline tickets to arrive in SF on the 10th of Feb and leave on Sunday the 14th, since finding out that the Users Conf starts on the 11th through the 13th. Anyway, when I changed my tickets I found the fares were $100 less than what I booked for 2 months earlier! Oh well, it only cost me then $50 more to change my dates (they charge you $150 to change), since the tickets were $100 less.

Now, of course, I'm wishing I had left my arrival date as Tuesday the 9th, even though Expo doesn't even start until Thursday. This past January for Macworld Expo 2009, I got to SF a day early and had a chance to leisurely pick up my badge and stuff, and relax.

Anyway, my new mantra is: I can't wait until Feb.! See you all there!
